We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with a description of the services at our office and what you could expect if you became one of our patients. Your first visit will take approximately 45 minutes. There will be a few initial forms to complete which includes a case history. After completing the forms you will receive a comprehensive examination

Chiropractors are experts at diagnosing and treating the spine as well as being highly trained to diagnose and treat sprains, strains and various injuries to other areas of the body. We are trained to gently manipulate the vertebra of the spine and joints of the extremities such as the wrists, elbows, shoulders and knees.

Doctors of chiropractic take an interest in treating the body as a whole. We treat musculoskeletal conditions and various other disorders with natural methods hoping to keep the patient free from drugs and their side effects. We incorporate nutrition, exercise, diet and relaxation techniques to promote and maintain good health.

In the early part of 2010, legislators passed a new scope of practice for New Jersey chiropractors. The updated scope allows us to treat sprains and strains to any region of the body, provide nutritional counseling and to distribute nutritional supplements to our patients. We are also permitted to perform lab work such as urine and hair analysis, and blood work. Dr. Duerkes will write a prescription for any blood work which he feels may be necessary for obtaining an accurate diagnosis and/or for screening for nutritional deficiencies. Chiropractors are also permitted to perform pre-employment and school physicals.

Dr. Duerkes uses techniques such as Diversified, Thompson, Impulse Instrument Adjusting (low impact), Gonstead, Active Release and Myofascial Release. We also have physical modalities which aid in a patients recovery. The modalities include ultrasound therapy, Hi-Volt electrical muscle stim., therapeutic muscle massage, intersegmental traction, and hot and cold therapy.
