About Us

Dr. John Duerkes  worked as an associate doctor in Lakewood, across from Kimball Medical Center for nearly two years. He then started his own practice in 1984 in Wall, N.J. He has enjoyed treating patients for more than a quarter of a century and welcomes new patients to his office. His patients particularly appreciate the care and time he spends with them and the efforts of his courteous staff. In 2006 and 2008 Dr. Duerkes was voted  "One of the Best Chiropractors in Monmouth County", by the Asbury Park Press' annual Peoples Choice Reader Poll. Dr. Duerkes is also certified in reading and interpreting spinal MRI's.

Our office participates with most insurance companies. They include:United Healthcare, Oxford, Aetna, Medicare,  N.J Carpenters Fund, IBEW Local 400 Electricians Union, Heavy Equipment Operators Union, Plumbers & Pipe-Fitters, Qualcare, Mailhandlers, Federal BC&BS and all other Horizon BC/BS plans of N.J., and others. We will be happy to verify your coverage & benefits for chiropractic care.

We use physical modalities in conjunction with spinal adjustments. Some examples of physical modalities are electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound therapy, therapeutic muscle massage, intersegmental traction, and ice and moist heat therapy. These modalities are used to help relax muscles, reduce inflammation, and speed up the healing process.

Before coming to our office it is always best to call your insurance company and inquire regarding chiropractic benefits. You should also ask if your insurance plan requires a referral from your Primary Care Physician, (most HMO and some POS plans require this), and obtain deductible and co-pay information.
